Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for strikes against Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman on Monday, according to state media reports. The attacks were described as retaliation for a new wave of United States military operations targeting Iranian territory.
The escalation marks the latest in a series of confrontations that have destabilized the region since the conflict between Washington and Tehran erupted in late February. The ongoing war has sent shockwaves through the global economy, with maritime trade and energy markets particularly affected.
Iran Retaliates Against Four Nations
State media reported Monday that Iran's Revolutionary Guards launched strikes against Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman. The operations were framed as a direct response to the latest round of US attacks on Iran, which President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday.
Trump stated that the United States had struck Iran forcefully in retaliation for its recent attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil transit.
Strait of Hormuz at the Center of the Conflict
The strategic Strait of Hormuz has become a focal point of the confrontation. Iranian state media reported that more than ten projectiles struck Iran's Gulf island of Qeshm, located within the strait, on Sunday as hostilities between Tehran and Washington resumed.
Iran has claimed to have closed the Strait of Hormuz entirely. However, the United States military pushed back against that assertion on Sunday, insisting that maritime traffic continues to move through the waterway despite Tehran's declaration.
